Notes: Luise Max-Ehrler (1850-1920) was an Austrian portrait painter. Louise Ehler, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Ehrler von Erlenburg, came to Prague in 1864, where she began her painting lessons with Lauffer. She then studied with Joseph Flüggen in Munich. In Prague she married the painter Heinrich Max on December 27, 1877. She continued her painting studies in Vienna with Hans Makart. After graduating, she lived with her husband in Munich and then moved on to Aigen near Salzburg. Her works show an influence of Hans Makart’s history painting. (Wikipedia)
