Notes: Franz Grässel (1861 – 1948) was a painter, lived in Germany. Gräßel attended the class of Conrad Hoff at the Art Academy of Karlsruhe from 1878 to 1884. During this period he was mainly interested in genre depictions and portraits. He was a teacher at the Gymnasium of St. Stephan in Straßburg before going on a study trip. He then continued studying at the Academy in Munich at Wilhelm von Lindenschmit (1886-90). (askart.com)
