Notes: Wilhelm Velten (1847 – 1929) was a painter, lived in Russian Federation and Germany. Velten is known for Horse and buggy genre, hunting scene paintings. He began studying painting in the years 1867-1869 at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, and then – from 1870 – he was a student of Wilhelm von Diez at the Munich Academy. He settled permanently in Munich. In the nineties he became a member of the Munich Secesja association. Like his teacher Wilhelm Diez, the artist mainly painted genre motifs – hunting, horsemen and the camp life of soldiers – set in the realities of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
