Notes: Designed by Sir Charles Barry and begun in 1840, contains both the House of Commons and House of Lords. The clock tower is 316 feet high and was installed in 1858, the bell is called “Big Ben”. When Parliament sits a flag flies from Victoria Tower, and by night a light burns in the clock tower aboce Big Ben. The bridge was the second bridge to be built over the River Thames in 1739.
