Nieuwpoort is a town in northern Belgium known for its beach and marina. Near a series of locks on the Yser River is the King Albert I Monument, surrounded by columns. Underneath it is the Westfront Nieuwpoort, a visitor center with a projection of a large painting of the 1914 Battle of the Yser. Amid the cobbled streets of the medieval old town is the church O.L. Vrouwekerk, rebuilt in Gothic style after WWI. ― Google
